After Iran: The Science of Hope

Once Pandora’s box is opened, closing it again does not affect the changes that have been placed into motion. The attack by the United States on Iran last week shattered the Nuclear Non-Proliferation treaty, deeply wounded the United Nations Security Council, and justified the practice of preventive war that was denounced as a crime against humanity at the Nuremberg Trials. What must now be done, is that citizens of good will, worldwide, must act to establish a new world security and development architecture. They cannot wait for their doomed governmental elites to figure out what they are incapable of thinking about, because thermonuclear war “through miscalculation” could thereby result.

Fortunately, for the past three years, an international dialogue initiated by Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche, through her “Ten Principles For A New Security And Development Architecture,” has prepared representatives of world institutions, and even governments in some cases, to forge a path forward. Standing in the way as an a stable to human progress are unreconstructed “ole time religion” British imperialists, now exercising an outsized influence on the American Presidency. They hope that the international order set into motion in 1944-45 by Franklin Roosevelt, and institutionalized by the formation of the United Nations and the establishment of what they refer to as the “rules-based international system,” has now been irreparably shattered.

In the words of British Conservative David Starkey, “what we’ve got to understand, is that the rules of the game have changed. They’ve changed utterly. The world in which we thought we lived, in which most of my lifetime we’ve lived, which is a world of the so-called “Rules-Based International System– “RUBIS – has shattered.… Exactly 3 years ago, on the day that Putin invaded, I predicted the end of RUBIS…. We’ve moved back from that world of the United Nations, into something like 19th century great power politics…We’re back in the world of Palmerston. “

It is not the practices of British imperialist Lord Palmerston, but the principles of 19th century American President John Quincy Adams, that must prevail. A “John Quincy Adams Brigade” of such “John Q. Citizens” is now organizing for that new security and development architecture, so that the Hope, left at the bottom of Pandora’s box, can now take wings in a world that stands at the crossroads of thermonuclear Hell, or a bright, new future for all of humanity. The International Peace Coalition, and international representatives of The LaRouche Organization will put forward, in a series of presentations, why individual citizens, and what they do, can, at this moment of apparent darkness, through Hope, chart a new course for world history.
