Starmer on the Way Out, Burnham On the Way In? What’s the Deal?

“Challenge to Starmer Comes into Focus, as UK Is Said by Some to Be Approaching ‘Ungovernability’” will be the topic of a dialogue between Mike Robinson, Harley Schlanger and Dennis Speed on this week’s Manhattan Project.

The victory of Manchester, U.K, Mayor Andy Burnham to a seat in Parliament in a by-election has opened the door for him to challenge Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for leadership of the Labour Party, which Burnham said he will do. If Burnham were to succeed in the challenge, Starmer would be ousted as P.M., with the winner replacing him at 10 Downing Street.

This has been shaping up since Labour was trounced in local and district elections in May, the result of blowback from the Peter
Mandelson-Epstein scandal. Starmer continues to plummet in the polls, as the U.K. is increasingly polarized over a variety of issues, both economic and social, as living standards are falling, the National Health Service is imploding, and anger over a failed system to deal with immigration has led to the emergence of Nigel Farage’s Reform UK as the leading party, with Labour and the Tories at record lows in polls.

The consensus among commentators is that Starmer will soon be out, and that the political class in the U.K. is “dysfunctional” and the voters are “stupid.” In all the wailing from the pundits, there is almost no discussion of the elephant in the room: the UK’s role in pushing for a confrontation with Russia. Starmer’s role in the E3 is barely noticed, and the warnings from Russia about targeting Britain for its role in the Ukrainian drone war against Russia are
underplayed. Burnham’s announcement that he would cut welfare to allow for increases in defense spending drew little notice, except for his quote that increased defense spending would provide “maximal
social return…through support for British industry and jobs.”

Meanwhile, racial and ethnic violence exploded in Belfast last week, and charges that criticism of Israel is a sign of “resurgent anti-Semitism” are proliferating. Burnham is known for his close ties to the UK Zionist Lobby, as he is a member of the Labour Friends of Israel.

It seems that the City of London establishment is using pre- programmed violence to win acceptance for fascist measures to “keep the peace” at home.
