The Art of Reversing Our Criminal Course

Hiroshima, Japan August 1945

Aug. 5, 2026 (EIRNS)—Today, August 6, is the 81st anniversary of the actually unnecessary dropping of the atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima, Japan. Even as thermonuclear war is being more seriously—and madly—discussed as “more thinkable” than at any time since October 1962, there is still “good news,” of a sort. That good news has been expressed in Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical “Magnifica Humanitas,” in the Four Global Initiatives of China, and in the Ten Principles for a New Security and Development Architecture of Helga Zepp-LaRouche. Now, more than any time since 1945, “the world correlations of forces” favors the completion of the unfinished business of President Franklin Roosevelt, and the victors in the war against fascism.  

That correlation includes, and must include, the nations of Russia and China. It does not include Great Britain—“Perfidious Albion”—whose Winston Churchill in May 1945, proposed “Operation Unthinkable,” a plan to nuke the Soviet Union with American-made bombs, to “impose the will of the United States and the British Empire,” in the plan’s actual words.  It is from that quarter, and the “Tory” elements in the American intelligence and military sectors, emphatically including Silicon Valley, that the call for “little nuclear wars” is coming today. Konstantin Sivkov, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Missile and Artillery Sciences (RARAN), former President of the Academy of Geopolitical Issues, said in an interview with Dimitris Konstantakopoulos of Defend Democracy Press that even a “small” nuclear war between Russia and France would destroy Europe as well as one third of Russian territory. “That is, we have the capability to use nuclear weapons, but we fundamentally do not want to do so. Because the consequences—I have already spoken about this—would be catastrophic for our country and for Europe as well.” He also said that, “I want to note that the American military industry—the United States of America—was able to hold out for only six weeks of aerospace war with Iran. Our industry, from the beginning of rocket shelling and drone attacks by Ukraine on our territory, which began about two years ago, has calmly endured this regime for two years already. What the Americans could not endure for six weeks, we have endured for two years… And therefore, there is absolutely no need for us to transition to the use of nuclear weapons.”

America’s allies in that Second World War have in fact not forgotten that war’s purpose, and its promise—“Never Again.” But today, 81 years later, ending the dominance of the majority of the world’s people by Dutch, British, French, Belgian and Portuguese imperialism and colonialism demands a full reversal of American foreign and domestic policy from its post-November 22, 1963 course. The good news is that that not only must, but can be accomplished in the relatively short term, despite the contrary belief of most.

Signs are emerging in the United States and Europe that “the real American exception,” including the associates of Lyndon LaRouche, may soon be able to place his physical-economic solutions in the forefront of trans-Atlantic political life. This is not being done in a vacuum, but within the “charged field” of deliberations that Brazilian, Chinese, Russian, South African and other scholars and fighters have also proposed, in the form of the Oasis Plan and otherwise. There is a great composition for human survival that must grip the leadership of the world’s nations, in order to avoid the otherwise-impending tragedy now looming before us.  

In discussions that took place in Munich yesterday, in which Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche participated with representatives of China and other nations, it was made clear that China’s Four Global Initiatives and the Schiller Institute’s Ten Principles operated from a shared conception of what Pope Leo XIV has called “Magnifica Humanitas”—the Magnificence of Humanity. This is what is meant by “polyphony” in statecraft. Each of the interlocutors, be it a nation or, in extraordinary instances, even an individual, maintains their own distinct, inimitable voice—yet all voices are unique instrumentalities, essential to the proper performance of the statecraft composition: the building of the Earth’s future for the next fifty years, and more.

In last night’s electoral results in the United States, there was a clear, even “seismic” defeat of the Democratic-Republican “war uniparty” in Michigan, where money tried to talk, but choked instead. In the Democratic primary race for United States Senate, AIPAC spent $30 million against Dr. Abdul El-Sayed. He is the Egyptian son of two immigrant engineers, and former director of the Wayne County Health Department. He had been moved to run for office, not only by what was happening in Gaza, but by the poisoning of children in Flint, Michigan through the presence of lead in the water system there, a condition that lasted for more than half a decade. Several other candidates, particularly in Michigan, overcame the AIPAC and outside money efforts, which probably came to over $60 million aimed at the Michigan Senate race and others.

That, however, is the merest of indicators of the real dynamic in the nation. The deeper field, in which the electoral results of last night are embedded, is indicated in remarks made by Scott Ritter during a podcast yesterday: “Donald Trump only became President this time around because the Democrats put somebody who was even more incompetent than him on the ballot. So, what do we do? Well, we know, for instance, that there are third-party candidates. Diane Sare is running for President. She’s announced her presidency. So, if you’re going to fire Donald Trump, maybe hire Diane Sare.”You’re hired!" And if she doesn’t do the job, “You’re fired!” It’s that easy. That’s what democracy is all about. But let’s say you don’t like Diane. I do, but let’s say you don’t. Who could take Donald Trump’s place? Tucker Carlson, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Thomas Massie, and Joe Kent. These are people who are out there who have looked at Donald Trump and said, we don’t want any part of this. So automatically, they’re more qualified to be President than Donald Trump. Hell, my dog Maverick is more qualified to be President than Donald Trump!“ Ritter, who has been savagely eloquent in his warnings of the danger of thermonuclear war, has also hit upon the solution. Will he be followed by the American people? Will they declare their independence from Britain’s modern-day”Operation Unthinkable," and free America to join the community of nations in a harmony of interests that can ensure not only durable human survival, but the prosperity that Franklin Roosevelt called for in his Four Freedoms? On August 6, 81 years later, that is the only policy worth fighting for.
