The Creator Has Endowed Us With Intelligence and Free Will to Resolve Conflicts’

July 2, 2026 (EIRNS)—On June 26, Pope Leo XIV put forward two fundamental concepts which are key for humanity to be able to rise out of our current crisis. Speaking on June 26 to a two-day Consistory, a meeting with all the Cardinals from around the world in Rome, the Pope first stated that “war is never worthy of humanity, and it is never blessed by God, because, even if we are equipped with high-tech weapons, the Creator has endowed us with intelligence and free will to resolve conflicts as human beings and not as beasts.”

His second stated principle is closely related: “That the unity of the human family takes precedence over individual peoples and states, is not merely a biological fact; it is an ethical principle.”

Both concepts—that Man is set apart from the beasts by virtue of his creative reason, and that the interest of the one humanity must come first—will be very familiar to those who have taken the time to study the works of Lyndon LaRouche, and those who have followed the efforts of Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche to bring the nations of the world together to establish a new international security and development architecture which reflects the true character of humanity as a creative species.

These twin concepts also form the conceptual backbone of the founding of the United States of America—e.g., the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. It is therefore most appropriate that Pope Leo XIV, the first American pontiff, will receive the 2026 Liberty Medal from the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia on July 3, and that he will deliver remarks from the Vatican via live stream to the gathering.

And it is equally appropriate that presidential candidate Diane Sare, a lifelong student and follower of Lyndon LaRouche, will address a major campaign rally on July 5, also in the Philadelphia area, to mobilize the nation for the uphill climb to return to those policies.

The current occupant of the White House is thoroughly unequal to the task that we, the people, face. Donald Trump may have made obscene amounts of money personally, for himself and his family, by helping to create the corrupt crypto craze, but pretty much all of his second term public policies—the good, the bad, and the ugly—are today in total shambles. And, under British tutelage, they are leading the world to possible nuclear war in the Iran theater, possible nuclear war in the Ukraine theater, and probable economic blowout throughout the trans-Atlantic sector.

Trump has been unwilling or unable—or both—to override London on the Ukraine policy, and has therefore turned the Alaska understanding he and Putin established at their Anchorage, Alaska summit on Aug. 15, 2025 into a dead letter. He has been unwilling or unable to override London’s use of their Israeli marcher lord to sabotage the tenuous negotiated ceasefire with Iran. And he has definitely been both unwilling and unable to rein in Wall Street and the City of London’s paroxysms of speculation, which have created an unpayable $2.4 quadrillion financial bubble while destroying the physical economy of every nation into which the banks have sunk their claws.

So join the LaRouche movement in exercising “intelligence and free will,” and the creativity which makes morality possible, over this July 4 weekend and beyond.
