The Theaters of Global War Expand to the Strait of Gibraltar

Aug. 1, 2026 (EIRNS)—Preparations are underway this weekend in both Washington and Tehran for a likely dramatic resumption of all-out warfare between the United States and Iran. The State Department has issued new travel advisories and warnings to its personnel throughout Southwest Asia that they may come under attack at any time. U.S. mass media CBS is reporting that “the United States and Israel are planning what would be one of the harshest bombing campaigns to date against energy infrastructure targets in Iran.” And Iran’s Armed Forces have announced that they have initiated “the highest state of readiness, changing to wartime protocols.”

The NATO-Ukraine war against Russia has also escalated over the last 72 hours, as Kiev urgently tries to get access to Elon Musk’s Starlink communications system over Russia, in order to permit precision targeting of strikes deep into Russia.

The way the British Empire is orchestrating matters, American assets are now being directly hit in both of these theaters of war. Back on July 26, Russia reported they had struck an American-owned drone factory in Kiev. Readers of EIR News will recall that on April 15, Russia’s Ministry of Defense published a list naming 21 companies across 12 countries that were aiding Ukraine’s drone production, which Russian officials later classified as potential military targets.

Then on July 29, the U.S.-owned floating storage and regasification unit Energos Winter was struck in Egypt’s Damietta Port by an unidentified drone, which western media quickly blamed on Iran. However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denied any involvement and instead denounced the attack as an Israeli false flag operation designed to spread the war to new theaters.

And now we have the highly suspicious flash-flooding of Spain’s Ceuta by some 60,000 youth coming from Morocco, shocking the world and creating a major migration crisis. Here the key question, as always, is “cui bono.”

Everything points to an operation orchestrated by the U.S. and Israel—with British geopolitical puppeteers behind both of them—designed to achieve three goals:

1. Punish Spain for its recent policies of recognizing Palestine and denouncing the Gaza genocide, and refusing to allow NATO bases in Spain to be used for the war against Iran.

2. Orchestrate a long-standing campaign to force Spain to hand Ceuta and Melilla over to Morocco, in partial recompense to Morocco for joining the Abraham Accords and recognizing Israel in 2020. And, most fundamentally,

3. Establish full British control over the Strait of Gibraltar chokepoint, which is now jointly controlled by the British base on Gibraltar and a Spanish military base in Ceuta. American neocons and others have been lobbying for Ceuta and Melilla to be handed over to Morocco, after which the Moron and Rota NATO bases in Spain – which are 75 miles apart from each other in the far south of Spain, and each about 65-70 miles from Gibraltar – would be transferred to Morocco.

This, in turn, is part of the overriding British geopolitical strategy of controlling all major world maritime shipping chokepoints, to better implement the long-standing Malthusian policy of controlled disintegration of the world’s physical economy – a topic discussed at some length in a series of March 2026 Economist studies.

As Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche bluntly stated today: “The world is heading towards the perfect storm. If these policies are allowed to continue, we will all be in Hell soon.” She urged the widest possible circulation of the policy deliberation which occurred at the [July 31 EIR Roundtable “Solve the Immigration Crisis with Development” to make sure that the current trajectory towards war does not prevail.
