To Student Protestors: ‘Our Future Is Your Future’
Oct. 10, 2026 (EIRNS)—This past week the Solidarité et Progrès Party in France, part of the international LaRouche movement, released a statement for circulation among the masses of students and others now protesting on the streets, headlined, “Our Future Is Your Future”, posing the necessity “to fully demand a future for the country.”
This coming week will see more protests in many international locations, with a focus in France on Oct. 13 for a nationwide action, and in Argentina for an Oct. 15 action, instigated by students, and a pending march on Rome by a farmer-instigated mobilization, which today had a demonstration in Calabria, in southern Italy.
These actions are all concrete expressions of rejecting the current conditions of economic breakdown, and the killing and genocide associated with continuing the paradigm of geopolitics and might-makes-right.
In Argentina on Oct. 7, some 100 students from four universities staged a non-violent sit-in in Buenos Aires at the historic palace housing the office of the Minister of Education, to protest the withholding of funding to the national university system, perpetrated since October 2025 deliberately and unlawfully by the Javier Milei government. It’s time to “create a Paris in Buenos Aires,” was one of the students’ messages, emulating the fight in France to restore a quality education system. Public universities in Argentina are tuition-free, and are the backbone of the country’s higher education system, bolstering science and culture. “France is our model,” was another sign. The government deployed force, arresting and evicting the demonstrators, after which students and collaborators have now set the date of Oct. 15 for a march on the congress. This has been done four times before, but this time, there is international attention and support. Scientists, trade unionists, and others will join with students, teachers, and staff.
In Italy today, a few hundred farmers, truckers, community business people, fishermen, and others gathered in the central plaza of the historic town of Cosenza, protesting both the impossible conditions of high diesel prices, globalist food imports into Italy, and also the pathetic government response to the crisis. The farmers and others are offered 15 million euros to slightly cushion costs of production. Today’s action comes amidst others throughout the region over nearly two weeks. Organizers announced their intention now to stage a march on Rome in the near future.
The common denominator in all these instances, and other examples that could be cited, is that the economic system itself is failing, while armament and war are promoted, as in the extreme situations in West Asia, with the ongoing U.S.-Israeli warfare, and the Western backing of Ukraine as a proxy against Russia. In the United States, though no demonstrations have broken out, fierce pressure has come down on the White House from the impossible diesel and other costs of production, from truckers, farmers, and those involved in production and essential services.
Under the logic of appearing to relieve the cost pressures for Americans before the election, as well as “doing something about wars,” President Trump yesterday had a one-and-a-half-hour phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, after which Trump announced that Russia agreed to supply the United States and global markets with some fuel. The amounts happen to be not significant, but the follow on to the call has had impressive results.
Today President Trump vociferously announced that Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky should leave office and make way for someone who will settle the war. Trump scored Zelensky for bombing Russian fuel infrastructure in recent months. This came after Zelensky last night condemned Trump for making a deal with Putin. In addition, there came the report overnight that Ukraine drone attacks inside Russia hit the fuel-loading terminal at Novoshakhtinsk refinery in Rostov-on-Don.
At the same time, yesterday’s Ukraine talks in Miami were concluded after only one day, not the originally announced two, ending the discussions among delegations from the United States, Ukraine, the European Three (UK, France, Germany), the EU, and NATO. No joint announcement was issued, except for U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff saying talks were “constructive.”
Don’t look for strategic grand design, or even coherency to all this, maybe with the exception of President Trump’s signature “make a deal” approach.
Look instead for the opportunity and necessity to inject principles for policies based on promoting economic development and peace, as the only way to proceed out of war and chaos, to security for all. This is the answer to the demands of mass actions, and to those gathering and pressuring for peace.
It is of note that Putin and Trump spoke of economic projects in their call yesterday. Putin briefed Trump on both the Ukraine and Iran situations, and also reported to Trump on his own personal meeting with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian in Turkmenistan this week, at the meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States, where Iran was a guest nation. Pezeshkian addressed the CIS, pointing out the optimum role of Iran to serve both North-South and East-West economic corridor development, linking together the continents of Eurasia and Africa.
The International Peace Coalition is playing an incomparable role as a platform to put forward the economic fundamentals to peace.
